レゲエが好きです。
世代的には雑誌『relax』のラヴァーズ・ロック特集の少し前からその道に足を踏み入れたラヴァーズ・ロック第2.5世代。
ラフ・トレードやトロージャンのコンピやオーバーヒートから出ていた日本版CDなんかと、イギリスの80年代ニューウェーブのレゲエ・ダブ感が相まみえて、好きになりました。
なので、アゲアゲではなくユルユルです。
なによりレゲエのいいなと思うポイントは、「66年のジャマイカが暑すぎたから」という誕生秘話。
今回は、その雑誌『relax』2001年11月号「LOVERS ROCK」特集の選曲リストを元に、プレイリストを作ってみました。
あの頃、リラックスに掲載されることで値上がりしたレコードを、それでもなんとか探して買える範囲で集めていましたが、もちろんコンプリートできるはずもなく。
サブスクもない時代、まだ聞いたことのない名曲（とされる）レコードたちに思いを馳せていたものです。
誌面のLOVERS ROCK DISK GUIDEのクレジットを確認すると、
supervision by Takeshi Fujikawa
text by Thakeshi Fujikawa, Taksuro Yonemitsu, Natsuhiko Shimanouchi
となっており、当時の「Lovers Rock Nite」の方々のセレクトだったことが分かります。
その後、RELAXIN’ WITH LOVERSと銘打ったコンピCDがリリース開始。
DEBから始まり、STUDIO16、BUSHAYS、SANTIC,HAYKEYES,JAMA、ISLAND、TROJAN、ARIWAなど名門レーベルごとのラヴァーズを集めたコンピが8タイトル、JAPANESE LOVESシリーズも8タイトルリリースされました。
全部追いきれなかったのは、レーベルごとのコンパイルだとレア曲のCD化という魅力はあれど、通して聴く面白みに欠けるところがあったのかなと思います。
JAPANESEシリーズも然りで、和洋いろいろ混ざった選曲のコンピだったらもっと……と思う次第です。
それでもいい曲だらけで「ネタ盤」としては有用ですし、持っておいても損はないかなとも思います。
誌面の選曲リストはシングル・LP合わせて圧巻の全136タイトル。
そのうち今回Spotifyでリスト化できたのが105曲、7時間30分。
LPで掲載されていたものに関しては、アルバムの代表曲やおすすめの曲を勝手に1曲選んであります。
Spotifyになかったものも、Youtubeなどがあれば下の方に補足しました。
Youtubeでも音源を見つけられなかったものは3タイトルありました。
リストはタイトルでA to Zの順番で並んでいるので、シャッフルで聴くのがオススメです。
季節を問わず、日々の暮らしのさまざまなシーンで上質なBGMとして機能してくれそうです。
懐かしかったり、新鮮だったり。
